When a lot of people think of doulas, they think about the time later in pregnancy. I think it’s because we are often equated to labor and delivery. This is a myth about doula work because one of my favorite things about being a doula is working with and getting to know moms during early pregnancy! There’s a lot thats going on with our bodies and it can feel a little scary or confusing when you don’t know what to expect. Here’s a list of 7 must have’s that I always suggest to my clients in that early pregnancy stage!
The Perfect Epidural Birth and Why I Want It,
I delivered my first child almost five years ago. I remember the excitement building as the days came closer to when we would meet him. As first time parents, we didn't really "know" what to expect. Everything we knew about birth and delivery came from our birth classes, first hand accounts of fellow friends, family members and what we had seen in the movies. It turns out, theres a lot of biased information out there when only reverting to these few resources!
Spotlight: Om Prana Yoga
There are truly no words to describe the belonging and feeling of love that I received when I entered Om Prana Yoga studio. I had the amazing opportunity to attend a prenatal yoga class at Om Prana Yoga and it was an absolute blast! The location is a mix of old world charm and yoga serenity with architecture that filled me with love for the beautiful little town of Parkville. It was such a cool location and I couldn't help but ogle!
I was immediately embraced by Wendy, the owner and founder of the studio and introduced to the class of very pregnant women! Tiffany, the prenatal yoga teacher helped us to feel relaxed, soothed and comfortable during the session and even though I'm not pregnant, I was able to refocus and become more grounded after a crazy week!
After the session I had the opportunity to sit down with Wendy and chat about where she has been and her hopes for Om Prana Yoga and prenatal/postpartum care in the Northland.
Spotlight: Hands on Health Family Chiropractic
A few weeks ago I had the great opportunity to visit Dr. Racheal McCrackin and her co-chiropractor Dr. Alison Anstaett at their mother and baby chiropractic practice in Parkville, MO. As a mother in the Northland of Kansas City, I'm always looking for great resources for my children and I that are closer than Overland Park. I love living in the Northland but unfortunately it does have some draw backs, including a lack of "community" like I've seen in the southland. I'm very excited to be blogging about some of our amazing local resources as I continue getting to know the Northland of Kansas City and all it has to offer!
It was such a joy getting to know Racheal and the staff at Hands on Health Family Chiropractic. The second I walked in, I felt a sense of safety and openness. These are local professional mothers who's goal is to serve you and your family in the Northland and beyond in the Kansas City Metro. Chiropractic care has such a far reaching ability to make your pregnancy and postpartum experience the best than it can be! I highly suggest Hands on Health Family Chiropractic.
