An Unexpected and Overwhelming Premature Birth

An Unexpected and Overwhelming Premature Birth

Everyone feels the need to write down their birth story- as if the remembering will make it more real. But in truth it is always surreal. It is always something you can’t quite grasp, somewhere between a whisper and a shout that life is beginning!

I was not ready to write down my story for the world until a year after G’s birth. I’d written parts down for close friends, and told my family the details they were interested in, but I think I wanted to keep it for myself. Having a baby is one part magic, one part miracle and as the vessel, the mother feels that magic keenly.

The Secret Lives of Postpartum Placenta Specialists

Placenta Encapsulation.

Saying it out loud makes a lot of people squirm.

Trust me! Introducing myself to people and saying "I'm a doula and Postpartum Placenta Specialist!" You would think I had just said that I'm secretly an animorph (which would be awesome btw!)

Spotlight: Om Prana Yoga

Spotlight: Om Prana Yoga

There are truly no words to describe the belonging and feeling of love that I received when I entered Om Prana Yoga studio. I had the amazing opportunity to attend a prenatal yoga class at Om Prana Yoga and it was an absolute blast! The location is a mix of old world charm and yoga serenity with architecture that filled me with love for the beautiful little town of Parkville. It was such a cool location and I couldn't help but ogle!

I was immediately embraced by Wendy, the owner and founder of the studio and introduced to the class of very pregnant women! Tiffany, the prenatal yoga teacher helped us to feel relaxed, soothed and comfortable during the session and even though I'm not pregnant, I was able to refocus and become more grounded after a crazy week!

After the session I had the opportunity to sit down with Wendy and chat about where she has been and her hopes for Om Prana Yoga and prenatal/postpartum care in the Northland.

I thought I was Invincible and Now I'm Sunburnt

I thought I was invincible.

I spent the day at Worlds of Fun, the amusement park, with my husband, for our 5 year wedding anniversary celebration.

I didn't wear sunscreen.

Now I'm sunburnt and it hurts to raise my eyebrows.

I thought I would share some wisdom with you on how to NOT get sunburnt at an amusement park and have a great time doing it!
