Will Doulas Work well With My OB/GYN?

Will Doulas Work well With My OB/GYN?

One misconception that doulas often hear is "Oh, so you only attend home birth or births with midwives, right."

The answer? No! Doulas have the unique opportunity to attend birth with family practice doctors, OB/GYN, midwives and even home birth midwives. We have the opportunity to support women and families through every aspect of the birth process, in every setting.

The problem lies in the past. Unfortunately there's been a few doulas who have left a bad taste in the mouth of the Doctors and sometimes even midwives that have worked with them.

As professional doulas we strive to have positive interactions with all care providers. Heres four reasons why we work well with you OB/GYN or Midwife. (click on the link to read more!)

The Best Doula In Liberty, MO

The Best Doula In Liberty, MO

"I technically live in Kansas City. About one mile down the road is Liberty, MO. Liberty, MO is the definition of quaint, adorable, charming and historic city. You can practically feel the history as you walk down the streets of Liberty. In the same breath, the growth that has come to this little city in the past few years is booming! Everything you can possibly need is located near by.

Its definitely the definition of small town life with big city attractions and I absolutely love that about it."

What Does it Look Like to Have Overnight Doula Support?

What Does it Look Like to Have Overnight Doula Support?

I'm writing this blog from a beautiful little nursery in Kansas City. I have a little time to spare between the next feeding and a nap I plan to take to get me through the night.

I'm at an overnight shift.

Did you know that Postpartum Doulas are specially trained in overnight care? Have you ever wondered what that even means or why it could be a game changer for your family?

Overnight postpartum care is the quintessential luxury for all new parents. When you are struggling to make it through nights, then days, then nights again with your newborn, many parents find comfort in knowing that their doula will soon stop in to save the day and allow them to rest for a whole 8 hours or more!

Spotlight: Hands on Health Family Chiropractic

Spotlight: Hands on Health Family Chiropractic

A few weeks ago I had the great opportunity to visit Dr. Racheal McCrackin and her co-chiropractor Dr. Alison Anstaett at their mother and baby chiropractic practice in Parkville, MO. As a mother in the Northland of Kansas City, I'm always looking for great resources for my children and I that are closer than Overland Park. I love living in the Northland but unfortunately it does have some draw backs, including a lack of "community" like I've seen in the southland. I'm very excited to be blogging about some of our amazing local resources as I continue getting to know the Northland of Kansas City and all it has to offer!

It was such a joy getting to know Racheal and the staff at Hands on Health Family Chiropractic. The second I walked in, I felt a sense of safety and openness. These are local professional mothers who's goal is to serve you and your family in the Northland and beyond in the Kansas City Metro. Chiropractic care has such a far reaching ability to make your pregnancy and postpartum experience the best than it can be! I highly suggest Hands on Health Family Chiropractic.

An Unexpected Induced Birth

An Unexpected Induced Birth

"When I was 9 or 10, I went to a drama day camp where for one of the scenes, we were
told to dress up as what we wanted to be when we grew up. While my sister put on a lab coat
and borrowed a family friend's beaker, my mom helped me put my hair in a ponytail, adjusted her ring sling to as small as it would go, and I proudly wore my favorite baby doll in the middle of a stage full of miniature doctors, construction workers, and presidents.

Nearly 15 years later, I took my first ever pregnancy test, and stared it down as it
analysed. The minute it showed a positive result, I fell on the bathroom floor and cried. I was so happy and overwhelmed. I wanted to tell everyone and get everything ready right away."
