The Doula Girls has been quite the adventure! I began this business in North Liberty Iowa after my doula training in 2015. I wanted to start a business with a name that allowed for growth and movement. We weren't sure how long we would be living in Iowa and I didn't want to name a business something that couldn't move with me.
This week I had the opportunity to take a call with Prodoula. Prodoula is my professional doula certifying agency. They have been a huge help throughout this process of becoming four star certified.
The call was a last step toward achieving my labor certification. I was also pleased to hear that I had passed the child birth education test with flying colors. This means that I am officially four start certified! I am currently certified in birth, postpartum, placenta encapsulation and child birth education!
So what does this mean for my clients?
As a former elementary school teacher, who studied special education, I've always held play therapy in high regard. When I heard about We Rock The Spectrum, I knew it was a place that I wanted to support.
I had the chance to attend WRTS-KC with my children in tow and was mesmerized at the play space that was set up. I felt so grateful that my children now had a place to play with every type of child and that judgement, ridicule and isolation, would be left at the door. My toddler and preschooler had an absolute blast! They ran, jumped, tumbled, swung and climbed.
I was able to talk to the Owner Cassidi Jobe about what brought her and this ingenious business to the northland.
There are truly no words to describe the belonging and feeling of love that I received when I entered Om Prana Yoga studio. I had the amazing opportunity to attend a prenatal yoga class at Om Prana Yoga and it was an absolute blast! The location is a mix of old world charm and yoga serenity with architecture that filled me with love for the beautiful little town of Parkville. It was such a cool location and I couldn't help but ogle!
I was immediately embraced by Wendy, the owner and founder of the studio and introduced to the class of very pregnant women! Tiffany, the prenatal yoga teacher helped us to feel relaxed, soothed and comfortable during the session and even though I'm not pregnant, I was able to refocus and become more grounded after a crazy week!
After the session I had the opportunity to sit down with Wendy and chat about where she has been and her hopes for Om Prana Yoga and prenatal/postpartum care in the Northland.
"I technically live in Kansas City. About one mile down the road is Liberty, MO. Liberty, MO is the definition of quaint, adorable, charming and historic city. You can practically feel the history as you walk down the streets of Liberty. In the same breath, the growth that has come to this little city in the past few years is booming! Everything you can possibly need is located near by.
Its definitely the definition of small town life with big city attractions and I absolutely love that about it."
